Vitamin C may have heart protective qualities, according to a new study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. In a 16 year study of over 85,000 women, those who regularly took vitamin C supplements had a 28 percent decrease in risk of developing heart disease. However, high consumption of foods rich in vitamin C did not have the same effect. The researchers contrarily noted that the case may actually be that those who used supplements may generally be a healthier portion of the population, and that a study comparing vitamin C pills and placebo pills would yield more conclusive results.Note: The contents of this blog are for informational purposes only and should not be construed as medical advice or substitute for professional care. 1. Very interesting article! I don't have a lot of time to eat foods that will provide me with the daily recommended dose of Vitamin C so it's good to know that Vitamin C supplements are just as good, if not better for my overall health!
