A good way to identify an antioxidant-rich fruit or vegetable is by its dense, dark color, advise nutritionists. A recent compilation of 1,000 food and drink items with the highest levels of antioxidants put blackberries at the top of the list. Researchers used the Ferric Reducing Ability of Plasma (FRAP) assessment to measure and document an updated list of antioxidant concentration in over 1,000 edible items. Published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the top five are: blackberries, 100 percent grape juice, artichoke hearts, walnuts and strawberries. These foods have even higher antioxidant levels than the recently celebrated super foods blueberries, chocolate, red wine, tea and coffee -- although these foods are all still good for you.

1. I think blackberries are also doing great in the fiber "department", which gives us one more reason to load up on them.
